Ipswich Research Resources
There are numerous sources of information about Ipswich, not just in Ipswich but also in Essex County, Massachusetts and the United States. Some are listed below by category. If you have suggestions for other resources to be listed please contact John Slaughter GENEALOGICAL RECORDS The Ipswich Town Clerk's office serves a myriad of official functions and delights in assisting genealogists. The office maintains birth, marriage and death vital statistics from 1850 to the present. Statistics and records prior to 1850 are maintained by the Ipswich Public Library. The Clerk's staff has many official tasks and a tremendous amount of genealogical search and research requests. While it is able to provide general information over the telephone it can't perform telephonic look-up or research. Please submit requests for information, data or documents in writing with as much detail as possible. There is a $5.00 charge for certified copies of documents, but no charge for "quick" look-ups. For extensive search and research, which is done by the staff "after hours" the fee is $10.00 to $11.00 per hour. The library staff is also delighted to provide basic genealogical search and research with individual arrangements made for cost and expense of detailed or extensive services.
